Review: Afraid by Jack Kilborn/JA Konrath

ImageAfraid was the first novel I ever read by Jack Kilborn/JA Konrath and it was the one that made me want to read everything he has ever written. (and I have!)

It takes place in a sleepy Wisconsin town and involves a helicopter crash that unleashes pure hell on the small town. There are characters you learn to love and yes, some of them meet a rather messy demise.

In all honesty, I was a little disappointed when I found out exactly what it was that was attacking the people of this community but the sheer gore and suspense of this novel made me forget all about that. Here is a warning: This book is not for the feint of heart or those with a queasy stomach! It is pretty gross and that made it a lot of fun. You’ve been warned so if you don’t like it for that reason, you can’t say I didn’t tell you.

Konrath’s books typically sell for $3.99 (£2.59) but he’s often generous and will lower the price to .99 or even free a couple times a year.

Afraid – U.S.
