Review: Colony Z by Luke Shephard

Book Description:

When the Undead have taken over America, one group of survivors find safety by escaping to a remote, unsettled island.

There they work to rebuild society, while trying to survive whatever it is that is after them.

Alone and isolated, their relative peace and safety is shattered when a group of Others shows up on their island and their leaders must make life-altering choices in the blink of an eye.

This is only the beginning. This is their story.

Over the last couple of months, all of my reviews have been for brilliant books from authors who have earned my utmost respect. That’s about to change.

Colony Z has got to be one of the worst pieces of literature I have ever read. The story is disjointed, characters shallow, and the dialogue, forced and fake. This is supposed to be a zombie story and there are hardly any zombies in it! The narratives did nothing to make me feel like I was actually living the story with the stick-figure characters, and the way the author told the story, it felt like he was trying not to offend anyone. Thank god this book was short and I didn’t waste too much of my life on it. Oh, and the “cliffhanger” was total crap.

If you want a quality zombie story, stick with one created by Iain Rob Wright or TW Brown, but please, even though it’s free, run away from the ridiculous Colony Z.
