Sometimes life brings out the worst in a person, but Adolf Zakerny was born for evil. After a life of torment and murder, all in the name of Hell, it’s time for Zakerny to take his place amongst the demons. Will the blood he spilled appease the charismatic Lord of Hell, or will Zakerny’s Pride come to a fall?
‘Pride’ is the first of seven short stories in the ‘Even Hell Has Standards’ series, where Chantal Noordeloos takes the reader through the darker side of human nature, and it’s road to redemption. This is Hell as you’ve never seen it before.
Adolf Zakerny spends his entire life being evil and killing everyone he comes into contact with. When he dies, he enters Hell full of pride in the evil deeds he’s committed during his life. He enters Hell expecting to be congratulated for his evil deeds by the Lord of Darkness himself, and what happens next is horrifying and not at all what he wants.
I enjoyed this short story because it was different. Satan isn’t the same Satan portrayed in most books and you really cheer when you find out what happens to old Adolf. Chantal has a beautiful, vivid writing style that brings the story to life and makes you feel like you’re standing in Hell.
Pride is the first in a series of the seven deadly sins, and I can’t wait to see what else Chantal has in store for us.
